Swadlincote's Heritage Trail nears final approval

Swadlincote’s Heritage Trail is nearing completion and soon you will be able to discover thirty people, buildings and industries that have influenced the Derbyshire town’s past.

Twenty-seven plaques and three lecterns are going to be used to identify the locations of importance with each having a QR (quick response code) that can be scanned with a mobile phone to give access to further information.

The trail is being created with the help of the Heritage Lottery Fund Townscape Scheme that was awarded to Swadlincote in 2016 and is due to conclude in 2019. A further £700 has been provided to help with the cost of the plaques by East Midlands Airport Fund and additional money being given by local councils.

Our building, the Bretby Art Pottery Showroom is one of the buildings that have been included and in the coming months a plaque will be fixed to the wall adjacent to the building enabling those on the trail to find out more about this exciting project.

More about the Bretby Showroom here and the ways that you can help.
