Poppies arrive in Derby

The ceramic poppies that have been created by Derby artist Paul Cummins are continuing on their nationwide tour with the display at the Derby Silk Mill being officially opened to the public today.

Each of the poppies represents a soldier that was killed in the First World War and will remain in Derby until July the 23rd.

During the War the Silk Mill played a vital part in the war effort being divided into two businesses with one grinding corn and the other making medical supplies.

The Silk Mill will be open from 10am until 5pm during the time that the poppies are here with a later closing time of 8pm on Thursdays.
