Plans Unveiled

May 31, 2016

News of our latest restoration project reached the local press yesterday and they printed an article about Bretby Art Pottery. The image they used did not show the actual building which we are restoring, but part of the old pottery works which was demolished in the late 1990s.

Prior to the unfortunate destruction of the former works attempts were made to convert them into a museum by the South Derbyshire Historical Group, with this new use also being given some consideration by the South Derbyshire District Council who funded their own viability study. Despite encouraging responses for the museum from renowned experts and the local community the works which occupied about 60,000 sq. ft. in 1951 were demolished.

The Bretby Art Pottery Showroom building is now the only remnant of the world famous producer of the potteries wares and being a significant part of the Art Pottery Movement The Heritage Trust is determined to see it restored to its former glory, but we need your help.
